Absolutely — there may be a place for it!
As the performance world has changed, so have the vehicles enthusiasts enjoy driving. Performance-oriented trucks, SUVs and crossovers are welcome to join us in the Autocross, and they’re welcome in the Car Show, too. In fact, the Car Show includes a class specifically for trucks.
Our Track Sessions, however, are reserved for sports cars and performance cars.
That distinction is intentional. The Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival was created to celebrate the history and spirit of the sports cars that raced at Lake Garnett in the 1950s and ’60s, while giving enthusiasts a chance to experience that historic course today. Keeping the track sessions focused on sports and performance cars helps us preserve a little of that character as the event continues to grow.
For the same reason, motorcycles and autocycles are not eligible for our driving events.
And while you’ll see plenty of newer machinery at the Revival, our long-term goal is to continue strengthening the event’s connection to vintage sports cars, historic racing and the motoring culture that made Lake Garnett special in the first place.
So if you’ve got a quick SUV, crossover or truck sitting in the garage, don’t count yourself out. Bring it to Garnett, try your hand at the autocross, enter the car show, and come be part of the weekend.
After all, there’s more than one way to enjoy the Revival.
